A 31 year old man and a 55 year old woman have been arrested in the UK this week, set upon by police in the country for “conspiracy to defraud” fans of R&B vocalist Beyonce.
Details on the case below…
In the February of this year, British fans of the ‘Blow‘ belter were turned away by ticket inspectors at her shows after attempting to enter the arenas she was scheduled to perform at with forged tickets.
Unfortunately, unbeknownst to them, they had been sold counterfeit tickets by an online store set up with the sole purpose of defrauding music lovers, distributing fake tickets to unsuspecting fans who only learned said tickets were fake upon arriving at the show they had purchased them for.
This week, a 31 year old man and a 55 year old woman have been arrested for the part they reportedly played in the scam, marking the latest development in the long-running case, which the singer has now reportedly been made aware of.
On the scam, Det Con Mike Dermody said:
In each case the victims believed they were buying genuine tickets and arranged to meet the seller at locations near to the venue where they handed over cash in exchange for the tickets.
The fraud only came to light when the victims tried to enter the concert venue and security staff noticed the tickets were fakes.
There is no doubt that there are still victims and potential suspects we haven’t yet spoken yet.
The arrests come days before Beyonce embarks on a new would tour this week, joining husband Jay Z to kick off the ‘On The Run Tour’ in support of their respective new albums, marking their very first joint tour and the second world tour to be launched by the ‘Crazy in Love’ singer in the last year.
