After a slew of postponements and push-backs, Rihanna finally launched her ‘ANTI World Tour’ in Jacksonville, Florida last night.
The Bajan sensation has much to make up to fans following the rockiest of roll-out’s for the trek and its housing album ‘ANTI.’
Hoping to right the well-documented wrongs, the 28-year-old journyed through smashes such as ‘Diamonds’ and ‘Umbrella,’ as well as tackling newer numbers ala ‘Work’ and ‘Kiss It Better.’
Per the array of costumes, the production is unsurprisingly pleasing to the eye. What about the ear, though? Find out below…
Sadly, Rih once again sounded like struggle and stress, case in point the footage below.
It’s shocking that she’s still being allowed (by both her team and the public) to phone in these performances.
Truth be told, there’d be little to harp on about if what she exhibits was the length and breadth of her ability. Yet, next to never does it ever feel like she’s turning in her heartiest effort.
Instead, it seems like a matter of “lemme give one lazy whine and a lazier vocal and punch right on to the next city.”
Said mindset is wack and, by the looks of it, so too is this tour.

Honestly, she sounded decent. I was expecting her vocals to be worse but she surprised me. The tour look pretty lit, the crowd made it lit to be honest. I’m not a fan of the stage production but overall the tour looks alright. I’ll give credit where it’s due 🙂

As for her setlist, this Woman has so many hits in her catalogue its quite unbelieveable – even songs that were short interludes or tracks that weren’t officially released are hits themselves as everyone knows them. I genuinely cannot wait for her to release a greatest hits albums in the future. Without a doubt, many of Rihanna’s songs are LITERALLY the soundtrack to her generation. I love how she is singing so many songs off of ‘ANTI’ also and it’s even more impressive that the crowd is singing along – that arena knew every word to ‘Kiss It Better’, ‘Love On the Brain’, ‘Desperado’ etc.

I was waiting on this post at the door! I knew Sam couldn’t wait to get he stubby, greasy fingers typing away about the tour. Now, as I refuse to watch ANY videos until I see her Tuesday in Miami, Twitter and people watching on Periscope last night claims that it was lit.
I’m seeing her TWICE here in England. Once in ‘Coventry’ and then again in ‘Manchester’ – I wasn’t able to get tickets for the ‘Lodnon’ show.

I could only imagine how expensive the London show is. Just to get tickets in Miami I had to skip a student loan payment. In terms of the show, it does look fire and a major production increase from the Diamonds World Tour. I’m beyond elated to see the queen on this artistic level.
Oh, the ‘London’ show was certainly expensive. Initially, I wanted “Gold Circle (Floor Seat)” tickets for the Wembley stadium show but they make you pay extra along with a small tax fee and I did not want to do that. It’s great that she’s playing in other, smaller towns across England however which makes it so much more convenient for her fans in those areas who don’t have the means to travel to big cities. Our news press actually reported on that several months back and said that in some cases, Rihanna performing in these towns is the most exciting event to take place there in a long time.

To be honest, I’m mad about the setlist. I’m tired of hearing Love the Way You Lie, Live Your Life, and FVCK Umbrella. I really wanted American Oxygen personally. Also, I wish she performed more of the album. Like where is “Never Ending” and “Yeah I Said It?” Anyways, I will give you all my true, honest, objective review, something Sam will never be able to do, Wednesday morning.

I’ll agree with that. Aside from being able to move her body (rhythmically) to the music – ala. her caribbean roots – she’s never been much of a dancer. However, I do like that she TRIES and TRIES often.

Objectively, Beyonce (of course) and Ciara are much better in choreographed dance routines – even Tinashe form what I’ve seen. They just seem to have more endurance in that area.
I mean the outfits are looking “Kanyeish” but I don’t know how I feel about them yet. I think they’re supposed to follow a theme as they match the stage. I’ll let you know honestly how I feel once I see it for myself.
Also, I’m not mad that Rihanna isn’t a great dancer anymore. I think the fact that she doesn’t dance has actually helped her career. It has helped her establish herself as an individual artist rather a Beyonce wannabe. Now, instead of being seen as just this poptart who poses and does a two-step to the beat, she is a rockstar. Plus, the Rock in Rio show proves that she doesn’t need choreography to kill a stage.

I actually see Rihanna as more of an “Urban-Rockstar” to be honest also. She just does what she does on stage the only way she knows how and uses her high-spirited personality to engage and intrigue the crowd – it’s worked the last 11 years.

i loved the outfits! Loved everything about this! The stage was intriguing enough without being overbearing in theatrics. The choreography was typical. Rihanna does what she can do. Idk why people stil act shocked when they see clips. I mean if you are not a fan your view will always oppose. Your rambling won’t change the fact the show will continue for her fans. Vocally acceptable! I usually dont base my complete reaction off of her first week of shows, she usually gradually gets better ass the shows progress. However I was pleased with everything I was able to see. I’ll be at her show in Baltimore on the 9th. My sister wants me to give formation, but I’m not going until I preview this supposed album.

I think it’s really funny how Katy didn’t show up for Rih’s first show like she did for Nicki and Miley. She’s supposed to be her bestie, but she’s been acting brand new and moving very funny lately. As somebody who has called themselves a Rihanna fan since 2006, I would never pay money to see her live again. Saw her last tour and she faked her way through the entire show. Half arsed ‘dancing’, singing three words of each line, barely any interaction. It’s like she wasn’t even there.
