Rihanna‘s ‘Star Trek’ soundtrack single ‘Sledgehammer’ will see its official video unveiled in less than 24 hours.

Confirmation came courtesy of the 28-year-old, who posted the following:
#SLEDGEHAMMER will be the first ever music video to premiere in#IMAX theatres tomorrow at 9AM EST!
The clip will thereafter be serviced to VEVO and TIDAL.
The news is timely. Because, though off to a decent start at retail, it hasn’t cut into the upper echelon of the charts as perhaps hoped. As at writing, the song sits at #24 on US iTunes.
Can the singles stream queen drive the cut to new heights following the launch of its visual.

I get your point, but Rihanna is purposefully trying to be “boring” as being the point of the ANTI era. She could easily do an over the top glossy video for every song; rather, she’s focusing on the music speaking for itself. She doesn’t want the storyline driven, high fashion videos anymore that cloud the actual music. Simply, she’s trying to transcend traditional pop.

I won’t lie. I was hoping that she would have, somewhat, “tweaked” the ‘ANTI’ tour setlist for her European audience. In actuality, european audiences’ perceptions are just not the same as American audiences. Pop music is what has always dominated here and the majority of Rihanna’s biggest hits in Europe are ‘pop’ songs so for her to continue the heavy urban route that was delivered to her American audience is confusing to say the least.
