Dawn Richard is feeling generous.
Riding high on the wave of praise her latest LP ‘Redemption’ has secured, the vocalist has surprised her fans with a new number named ‘Stars‘ today.
With production built by Machine Drum the song adds a fresh layer of creativity to her album’s exploration into femininity, sexuality and the African-American experience and is now hoping to impress you below.
I spent more time on this album than any other era because I wanted it to be special.I wanted to speak on self discovery. What it means to be black. To be a woman. To speak on gay rights. To speak on black crimes. To talk about sexual discovery. And to find redemption in having a voice to do so.
she’s super creative
I truly admire how much she’s accomplished as an independent artist. I scrolled through her Instagram recently and her look is amazing.
Nope
Her infrared EP is dope af. Not sure about her new album I’ll have to give it a listen.
But I really admire her creativity & independence ?
The new album is REALLY different but you REALLY gotta listen. It’s AMAZING!
Her sound is becoming too weird for me. Maybe it ahead of its time, but I dont get it. I guess you gotta be high on lsd or something to understand her music. I still love the armor on ep, and the golden heart era. I really wish she would go back to working with Druski… The music they created to together was literally MAGIC!!! I love Heaven, Scripture, Bombs, Faith… I also like 86, PWT, and Northen Lights from golden heart…. Those songs were some of her best work in my opinion. Hopefully she comes back to Earth soon and gives us some songs that we can actually sing along to -_-
ain’t no we daughta. speak for yourself.
Everytime I prepare to listen to Dawn record it’s like me preparing to fly into space.
Girl props to your hustle I love it BUT the auto tune, distortion and unnecessary layers distracting the lyrical content just puts me off this era.
Right, I loved when she made music like Tale Tell Heart EP and Golden Heart. Now she is just all over the place! I’m over it.
She’s like.. the most intriguing artist out right now. She puts out quality music and visuals with no machine. Gotta respect the hustle
Nice
