‘Love & Hip-Hop Miami’ is already causing quite the stir and one the names at the centre of the controversy is rising star Amara La Negra.
A proud Afro-Latina, who has enjoyed success in the Latin market, she’s now hoping to make a mark on a more global scale.
During a now infamous scene, she was shown asking producer Young Hollywood for advice on how to reach her dreams. His response, which was to down her “ethnic, Macy Gray” look, caused outrage and immediately saw an outpouring of support for La Negra.
Keen to discuss the race and cultural politics that so many have opted not to talk about, she stopped by The Breakfast Club today.
During the candid chat, La Negra articulated her points amazingly and expanded a little more on who she is as well her artistic proposition.
Having recently signed a major deal with BMG, folk will no doubt be seeing a whole lot more of her.

Amara is a gorgeous, intelligent, very articulate Afro Latina. This interview was ruined by ignorant Ambi cream scape toast face Charlamagne and ugly b*** licking Third World trash Envy. They just don’t get it. Humans have to understand that black is EVERYWHERE. The GODS created dark skinned first as the original and prototype for Homo sapiens from Homo Erectus. All races are created by dark skinned blacks. Every human regardless of color have black DNA running through its veins whether they like it or not. Many can conned, manipulate, deny, distract, ostracize and immolate but what I said will always be 100% fact. Educate yourself and use common sense!

As a person of Puerto Rican & Trinidadian descent I can truly attest to everything she is saying.
My puertorican grandparents would blatantly show much favoritism towards my cousins and siblings who had lighter skin.

She’s beautiful. I’m surprised that people don’t know that there are black Dominicans. In Puerto Rico there are black Puerto Ricans and white Puerto Ricans. She’s talented. I don’t know why people have a problem with who she is.
