All roads lead to June 15th for Christina Aguilera, whose 8th album ‘Liberation’ arrives on said day.
In the run to its debut, the diva is strutting the promotional pavement with purpose.
Her latest stop is W Magazine.
Beyond posing it up for a stunning shoot lensed by Sara Cwynar, Xtina opened up about her LP and her departure from ‘The Voice.’
And while she’s spilled on the latter before, she expands on the matter in a super candid way – admitting that she stayed on the show at a point because of the coin.
Peep pics and quotes below…
On Leaving ‘The Voice’:
“It was such a hamster wheel.
[It played to my strengths initially] and then I felt like things really started to shift and change.
I signed on to a show where the blind audition element was something interesting, something genuine. After a while, though, you start to see that everyone is good-looking [laughs].
It wasn’t a comfortable place for me to be, where I’m just part of a money-making machine. When I stop believing in something, then it’s like, What am I doing here? I think I did choose to, no pun intended, take a chair for so long and do something very commercial for my little ones. But at a certain point I felt like I’m not even doing them a service by cheating myself and what I’m here to do. They should be seeing Mommy live her best life.
[With the show] once again, I found myself in that place where I’m being told what to do, what’s going to be acceptable or unacceptable, what’s okay or not okay. It’s like, God, you know, I’m a mother of two now. The genie is out of the bottle.”
On Rumors Of Rift With Fellow Coach Gwen Stefani:
“Oh my God, no! No, it never had anything to do with any one person at all. And I actually think it’s really cute Blake and Gwen found love in that chaotic environment. I fought for a long time to get two females in the chairs. And, for a long time, I was just told it wasn’t the demographic. But just know that I was a fighter behind the scenes.”
On New Album ‘Liberation’:
“Liberation is about me getting back to that little-girl me. You hear ‘Fall in Line’ and maybe think it was inspired by this time”—of #MeToo and Trump—”and it’s not. It was created years ago. It’s something I’ve always felt very strongly.”
On LP Collaborator Kanye West:
“I know, I know. Kanye, you know, he says things. His mind works in mysterious ways. I’ll just say that. I’ve always been a fan of his music…. If anything, he gives with his gut.
You can feel it in his beats. It’s genuine. It feels like his truth, even if it’s not going to go over well. But he really spoke to me. Even in that conversation we had, he would go on about other subjects and stuff like that. But then he would kind of remind me of myself. Like, oh, okay. He just has a different way of thinking and he’ll trail off in his own thoughts. You get the sense, though, that there’s a good guy there. Sometimes we’re all just a little misunderstood.”
**************
Loving so much of what we’re hearing and seeing of Xtina’s campaign. Compared to previous cycles, everything feels so…synchronised. And even better, the music is slaying too.
June 15th needs to hurry on by!
She still goes pop when SHE SHOULD GO SOULFUL, LIKE FUSS OR LOVING ME 4 ME OR SOAR, OR CAN’T HOLD US DOWN. SHE JUST REFUSES TO DO THE “SOULFUL” CD LIKE STRIPPED THAT HER FANS WANTS….THAT’S WHY HER FANS HAVE JUMPED SHIP— TO DEMI OR JOSS STONE OR JESSE J OR ARIANNA………..CHRISTINA JUST…….DOES ‘NOT’ GET IT

Yes please shut up. You have literally no idea what youre talking about.
Stripped was very pop with rnb songs from what I can remember. I remember pop songs like Soar, Fighter, Walk Away being on that album and rnb songs like Dirty and the one with Lil Kim but I remember that album as pop mostly with a few rnb songs thrown in. IF you want her to make another Stripped album then that means a big mix of genres on one cd with the overall concept pop.
XTINA even though you were blah when I met you HOPEFUL you will bring vocals, lyrics and passion to this product
I can relate. She once turned up uninvited to my party dahhhling!
I love everything about this liberstion era, waiting the album june 15th! She is already slaying with that songs released
her botched lip fillers p*** me off regularly. ugh
She looks like a drag queen with those lips
I liked her on “The Voice” but she didn’t like it as much..
she just following the Adele song train
I still hope that she will continue to support her Voice alums like Jacquie Lee, Bryan Bautista and Alison Porter. Maybe take them on tour with her?
