The Barr backlash continues!
Embattled comedienne Roseanne and her castmates on the show that bears her name are all collectively paying the price for its star’s racist tendencies ill-timed and ill-received jokes on Twitter earlier today (click here to read more). Taking to the social media platform to refer to Valerie Jarrett, the former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, as the baby of the “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes,” the 65-year-old actress set off a firestorm of controversy – a fury that prompted a quick apology from her.
Unfortunately for her the bid for forgiveness was too little, too late. ABC, the parent network to the wildly popular ‘Roseanne’ show reboot, immediately distanced itself from the comedienne by not only denouncing the cruel commentary but also cancelling the hit show.
As if that wasn’t enough, other networks and streaming platforms that aired the show (or its original) are following suit:
Roseanne Barr’s racist tweet Tuesday morning has now cost her even more as Viacom announced that Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT will all be pulling “Roseanne” reruns from the air.
The working-class family comedy, starring Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman and Sara Gilbert, ran on ABC from 1988 to 1997 before being revived this year on the same network.
Hulu also pulled the show from its streaming service Tuesday, a source told the Daily News.
Barr was also dropped by her talent agency, ICM, and ABC gave up its Emmy campaign for the comedy.
Wowwww! This got blown way out of proportion!
Nothing blown out of proportion! Her tweet was clearly racists and she’s paying the price for her racist tweet! The only unfortunate thing about it….is she took down everyone associated with the show with her!
I agree
Yes, blown way out of proportion. Roseanne . . . Joy Reid . . . Kathy Griffin . . . Kim Burrell . . . Paula Deen: I may not agree with a person’s statement, but I don’t think they’re entire career (and any associated careers) should be destroyed over a poorly though-out statement.
In today’s world you will be made an example of. Everything and everyone is being watched so watch your mouth.
Bye HEFFA lol ?
While I agree that the backlash is fair against Roseanne, I don’t agree with pulling EVERYTHING because that clearly punishes everyone else.
Then the Cosby show should still be on tv as well if that’s your logic.
when will black people?
And yet Trump says even more shocking things and is still your president. ?♂️
If it happened to Paula, it will happen to you! Bye Trump Supporter. I hope more racists come out of the closet and lose their jobs too. Times up
i feel bad for everyone else who now lose their jobs.
They benefited from white privilege because their boss is racist and now they lost their job because their boss is racist. Nobody black was hired by her so why are you feeling bad?
Wow. You really have to be careful what you say and who you say it about
If I were a cast member or apart of the production crew, at the very least to I’d be plotting to jump Roseanne.
Some of those actors we’re type cast and couldn’t find work because of their roles on that show.
To bring them back, give them hope, and Roseanne’s big mouth stop their bag!???
People are selfish, her actions alone cost maybe 30 people their job!
They are the only ones I feel bad for in this.
Roseanne has always been problematic ?
She was also scheduled to perform a comedy show at the MGM in the Washington DC surrounding area and the show was cancelled.
