With the gems that line her eighth studio album, ‘TKO,’ and the visuals to match, R&B veteran Mya continues to serve notice that taking the independent route does not have to equate to a reduction in quality – a truth she crystallizes with the video for ‘Damage.’
The third clip offered from this era (following ‘Ready For Whatever’ and ‘You Got Me’), the video – produced, directed, choreographed, edited, and styled by the multitalented Galen Hooks – comes four months after its official release and is described as “a raw, vulnerable visual with an emphasis on movement & expressive dance.”
Look inside to see if it lives up to its hype:
Wow. Honestly, I haven’t liked any of Mya’s songs after Moodring. This is the first song I can actually put on repeat. The video looks exactly like her last one though, like they were shot back to back after a quick wardrobe change.
I just checked the album credits and now I know why I like the song. It’s the only track from Los Da Mystro who worked with The Dream, Beyonce, Monica, Mario, Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan… Mya should’ve had him do the whole album.
Mya been holding herself back…. from music Jay-Z had fked Mya when he rapped with her….she should have fked the s*** outta him…….that is her man
if you wanted to do a simple video, THIS is how you’d do it. good job, mya.
A class act! She also released a behind the scenes video yesterday and has been hot on the promo trail for the last few months…video was premiered on TRL too.
Great simplistic, raw video. Love the storytelling choreography and she looks great as usual.
So proud of Mya for continuing to crank out quality work – music and visuals. Bravo!!!
Hot video. Her album is actually starting to grow on me. I hope she does a video for “Open”.
This is how u slay a dance video without dancers. I was engaged the whole time..
Yup!
I actually like Mya’s voice she’s an amazing artist!!
