Anne Hathaway Urges White People To Confront Reality Of Anti-Black Racism

Published: Friday 27th Jul 2018 by David

The name of the beautiful young lady in the image above? Nia Wilson.

Last week, as she and her sister boarded a train, she was attacked and murdered by a white supremacist…the latest in a horrifically long line of tragedies the black community has faced because of white supremacy and its subscribers.

Condemning the attack? The actress Anne Hathaway who believes that white people cannot call themselves decent and kind people if they aren’t actively fighting the racism many say they are against.

Her words below…

The murder of Nia Wilson- may she rest in the power and peace she was denied here- is unspeakable AND MUST NOT be met with silence.  She is not a hash tag; she was a black woman and she was murdered in cold blood by a white man.

White people- including me, including you- must take into the marrow of our privileged bones the truth that ALL black people fear for their lives DAILY in America and have done so for GENERATIONS.  White people DO NOT have equivalence for this fear of violence.
Given those givens, we must ask our (white)selves- how “decent” are we really?  Not in our intent, but in our actions?  In our lack of action?
Peace and prayers and JUSTICE for Nia and the Wilson family xx

This statement is not true. Viola Davis spoke on this very topic of Nia Wilson on twitter.

I don’t get why we have to give every white person a standing ovation every time time show common decency.

Because she could have kept silent in her white privilege BUT instead decided to use her platform to combat racism. As a person of color, I appreciate her sediment.

Same. I agree. She did a good thing and will force people to have a conversation.

White privilege is not a real thing, and Anne Hathaway comes off as a blatant racist by saying nonsense like “black people must fear for their lives every day”. Who cares about who gets invited to your stupid cookout with undercooked meat anyways.

Because we should want them to stand with us against those that seek to oppress us. I don’t get why every time one does display “common decency” they get attacked.

      • Adina… adina… say adina July 27, 2018

COMPLETELY agree Bam… Especially when “common decency” isn’t nowhere near common. Thank you Anne for using your platform to support a greater cause!

I agree with Anne. However, people need to understand that race is a man made concept to divide, conquer and make groups feel superior to others. Remember “Caucasian” are genetic mutation derived from black race. Matter of fact ALL races are created by blacks. We live in a world according to whites with white standards, rules, and beauty. They control everything and everyone is second class or only to be tolerated. My parents are dark skinned Africans who gave birth to white skin, blond hair, blue eyed twins. So I am proof that “whites” are genetic mutation derived from blacks. Just like Noah from the Bible. I can write a book base on my experiences in America from the reactions from people seeing my family, me benefiting from white privileged, me being automatically categorized as white, the reactions when people find out I’m genetically black but can’t past my beautiful aesthetics. People are lost and a trip. It will never be equal or respected.

I’m speechless for once, that was disgusting what happened to those two young women.
Thank you Anne for speaking up for the people.

Let’s get real. It’s sad when humans get killed, especially a young woman like Nia Wilson, but let’s not forget that the celebrities that people mindlessly look up to are not the people we should be relying on in our lives. Anne Hathaway comes off as nothing more than a shallow opportunist by grandstanding on Nia’s corpse to cause fear mongering amongst her fans, talking about nonsense such as “white privilege” and “blacks must fear for their lives every day”. You know why she says stuff like this? Because she’s just one of the Hollywood airheads that hops on to opportunistic bandwagons such as this to pretend to make a difference, but she’s actually treating black people like house pets instead of human beings. The sooner we drop this whole “moving the conversation forward” and actually THINK for once, the more you’ll realize that Anne Hathaway is about as much as an ally as a turd in a punchbowl.
