Together with Maroon 5, the rapper has rocketed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Girls Like You.’

After six weeks at #2, the mega-hit climbs into the top spot on this week’s tally.
Its rise was powered by a 127.6 million radio audience, 21,000 downloads, and 25.4 million U.S. streams. All amassed in the latest tracking week.
A huge touch-down for both Maroon 5 and Cardi, here are a few key facts:
- ‘Girls’ now stands as Cardi’s 3rd chart-topper. Belcalis’ previous wins are last year’s ‘Bodak Yellow’ and this summer’s ‘I Like It.’ All three were achieved within 12 months of each other!
- Cardi now becomes the first female rapper with three #1 Hot 100 hits!
- It’s Maroon 5’s fourth #1. Their earlier chart-toppers are ‘Makes Me Wonder’ (2007), ‘Moves Like Jagger (ft. Christina Aguilera)’ (2011), and ‘One More Night’ (2012) – the latter of which hit the top exactly one year ago to the day.
The news comes at an impeccable time for Adam Levine and co, who multiple sources say are headlining the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show next February.
Word is that Cardi will be joining them too, and after hitting the apex of the charts, her chances look even better!

Poor Nicki. That trash of a video for barbie dreams and bitterness at Travis, Kylie and Cardi did nothing for her numbers. At 35, I think its safe to say she has peaked. The label isn’t giving the big budget videos to her anymore, radio isn’t backing her as hard anymore, the numbers are not cutting it and the US tour is in shambles. Nene said it best, you never win when you play dirty, or as Bey put it, its your soul that needs the surgery.
I agree, the Barbie Dreams video while visually appealing could’ve made better by adding some cameos of the rappers mentioned. I also agree that while she has every right to speak her mind — the tone/demeanor of her rant post-album release left a bad taste in some peoples mouth.
However, Nicki has always had longetivity in her vision. Early on she made investments and business deals (yes, even Kmart) that would give her a foothold in entertainment and provide her financial stability. If I recommend anything for Cardi it would be to follow that blueprint. The music industry is very fickle and the next “Wave” can come and she can be demoted.

Congrats to Maroon 5 and Cardi B. While it is true that the song might’ve hit #1 even without Cardi due to the immense amount of views the video received (fueled by all the guest appearances in the video) a win is a win.
It’s crazy that two people cannot co-exist in the same space without belittling the other. Everyone comes and mentions Nicki under Cardi post and vice versa. Nicki has hit milestones and has plenty of “first” to her name — it is nearly impossible to be the first or the only in every category. Similarly, Cardi (while 3 #1’s in such a short time is astonishing) has a lot of ground to cover to be considered “QUEEN” of anything.
The barbz the first ones to get their panties tied up under a Cardi post, and the Bardigang the first ones to wild out under a Nicki post. I think it is completely possible to enjoy them both, and the internet just feeds the drama. Nicki throws subliminals and Cardi doesn’t write — but at the end of the day, two FEMALE hip-hop/rap artist are very present in the music conversation, which is something to applaud regardless.
