Finneas Credits Lana Del Rey & Lorde For Inspiring Billie Eilish

Published: Wednesday 29th Apr 2020 by David

For years, fans of Lana Del Rey and Lorde have felt that the ladies haven’t received enough credit for creating the Alt-Pop Princess lane Billie Eilish is currently thriving in.

Today, her brother Finneas has shed some light on the matter.

Full story below…

Finneas recently spoke to Apple Music to showcase his contributions to his sister’s stardom and revealed that the aforementioned stars played a large part in her development. He had this to say when he was asked to weigh in on talk of the industry’s hunt for the new Billie.

Well, the only version of that question that I can get behind is who is the next person that will do exactly what they want and be deemed pop music? That verbiage I would understand, but to me it does a disservice to two things. It does a huge disservice to Billie, in that you could be a next Billie. It also does a huge disservice to anyone they claim Billie is the next version, you know what I mean? It does a huge disservice to Lorde. It does a huge disservice to Lana. And I think that to me it was like, it’s not cyclical in that way. Billie was nominated for album of the year, the same year Lana was. It’s not like you pass the torch and then you just retire.”

I think the whole response to our art being so positive is that it rings true and it feels a unique thing and I feel that was the thing that we strive for in the beginning was to not conform to any preconceived notions of what we should be doing. And I think Lorde did the same thing. I think Lana has done the same thing. They’ve both been influences of ours, for sure.

Unfortunately, the success Billie enjoyed with her hit-kissed debut album means a number of labels and industry players are on the hunt for replacements designed to eat into her share of the market.

An unfortunate reality in a competitive market.

For, as much as there is “room for everyone”, the success of one artist can inadvertently eclipse the stars of smaller rival artists whose fans may be drawn to the larger player and their media machine.

With all of this mind, we ask….

Do you think Billie has what it takes to protect her position from the army of clones the industry is set to spawn in the coming months?

Your thoughts?

And mustard is yellow. Thanks captain obvious. Anyone can listen to Billie and hear that she was influenced by Queen Lana.

Why do white folks think this new lazy, soulless, dead eyes music is creative art? The gimmicks just continue.
