Late last year, news of a reboot of ‘The Game’ excited fans in earnest.
As reported, the popular dramedy was set to be revived at The CW.
Retooled as an hour-long weekly series, the refreshed show reunited originals such as Wendy Raquel Robinson, Tia Mowry, Hosea Chanchez, and Pooch Hall with new names for a new story.
Those plans didn’t pan out. However, there’s no need to fret because it looks like it’s been green-lit elsewhere.

A new incarnation ‘The Game’ is reportedly set to premiere on Paramount+, which is what CBS Access is due to be rebranded as in 2021.
The on-demand service, which is home to hits such as ‘The Good Fight,’ is being repackaged to spotlight the broader suite of ViacomCBS brands such as BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, and VH1.
It’s been confirmed that ‘The Game’ revival is part of the BET portion of programming.
A point notable, as that’s where the show was first re-launched in 2011 and ran for an additional six seasons (after its premature 2009 axing by The CW three seasons in – when the network moved away from the sitcom format).
Interestingly, it’s not known whether the new show will be helmed by creator Mara Brock Akil – who recently inked a blockbuster Netflix deal. Though it’s plausible she could be on-board as a producer. It’s also not yet known if it’ll return with the same premise touted. At the time the synopsis read:
“This time, our out-of-touch old-timers are determined to help a bunch of knuckle-head new-schoolers navigate the ruthless game of football on and off the field. They will clash through the pitfalls of fame, fortune and love. Some will win, others will lose, but that’s what happens when you play The Game.”
Whatever the case, we’re excited for the new instalment of ‘The Game.’ Are you?

I love this show I’ve seen it dozens of times and I was elated when it came on Netflix I binged it in like 3 days. I think the spin off will be amazing seeing as the last season of The Game was truly getting interesting. It took a good turn. And I think if they promote it right alot of younger people will want to watch it as well. You can reboot anything but you have to make people that have never seen the original crave to see the new as well as go back and binge the old.
Did you watch through season 9? It’s more than 3 seasons. Netflix only has the first 3 but Hulu has all 9.
This was actually a very good show! The past networks weren’t stable but Paramount is pretty good!!

I am a true fan of The Game from the very beginning! It was brilliantly written and reflected Black culture definitely from our perspective. It should have never been cancelled! Now please do it justice with the writing… because true fans will be watching!!! We need Mara’s vision and direction on the reboot!!!
