Birdman is getting candid.
During an exclusive interview with Wallo of ‘Where’s Wallo,’ the music mogul revealed how much he and his company – Cash Money Records – earn off the masters of current and former artists.
His words below…
“We license the music, I just started letting people sample my sh*t. So yeah, it’s a gang of ways you can make money with your masters. We generate $20-30 million a year just on our masters.”
However, many of the label’s artists have complained about past pay and contracts. Most notably, Lil Wayne launched a lawsuit against the label. It has since been settled, but that didn’t stop Wayne’s friend, Rick Ross, from attacking Birdman on the song ‘Idols Become Rivals.’
Former signees like Hot Boy Turk, Juvenile, and more have also complained about the compensation they received.
