Thanks to his new hit, ‘Yonaguni,’ Latin hitmaker Bad Bunny‘s bounced to the top 10 of the Hot 100 by his lonesome for the first time.
Bunny (born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) made his presence felt all up and through the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 all 2020 thanks to not one, not two, but three albums he released over the calendar year – ‘El Último Tour Del Mundo,’ ‘YHLQMDLG,’ and ‘Las Que No Iban a Salir.’
The buzz generated from those efforts only helped raise the global superstar’s profile, a feat evidenced by the top 10 premiere of his latest single (which also sees him singing in Japanese).
“The song arrives as Bad Bunny’s fourth Hot 100 top 10, and first with no accompanying artists, with all having debuted in the top 10. “I Like It,” with Cardi B and J Balvin, began at No. 8 in April 2018 and spent a week at No. 1 that July; “MIA,” featuring Drake, debuted at its No. 5 peak in October 2018; and “Dákiti,” with Jhay Cortez, opened at No. 9 in November 2020 and hit No. 5 in December.”
Here are the figures that bumped Bunny’s bop to the top 10:
- Streaming: 27.3 million streams
- Digital Downloads: 4,800 sold
- Radio airplay: 3.1 million audience impressions
