Who?
That will, no doubt, be the question on the lips of many at the mention of Nicola Roberts. However, as many of our UK readers will know, the 25 year old is no stranger to the spotlight.
Indeed the red-head has spent the better part of 10 years sharing the spotlight with new X Factor USA judge Cheryl Cole, as part of successful British group Girl Aloud.
Now, following in footsteps of Cole and the band’s lead singer Nadine Coyle, Roberts is stepping out on her own with the help of an all-star cast of producers. The most notable being Diplo.
Responsible for Beyonce‘s ‘Run The World’, the hitmaker has crafted Roberts’ debut effort ‘Beat of My Drum’ – the lead release from her forthcoming LP ‘Cinderella’s Eyes’. The quirky cut arrives at digital outlets on June 5th via Polydor /Universal Music.
Can “the quiet one” strike it lucky on her own? Time will most certainly tell.
In the meanwhile, check out a teaser video for the single (which plays in the background) below…
HOT!
This is surely be the best solo project from an Girls Aloud member.

It’s not available in my country.
lol seems like diplo cheated on beyonce, i here a bit of pon di floor in this 1 aswell
the beat is really hot! I hope she delivers. Next to Nadine, she had the 2nd best voice in the band.
I really miss Girls Aloud, they were one of my favourite girls to listen to when I was in the closet, I wouldn’t mind a reunion.
@Monica, agreed! Hopefully she doesn’t do it the wrong way like Nadine did though…
?????
EXCITED!
did she steal beyonce track????? sounds very alike or is it jus me????
WHO CARES?
I hate this girl and her group, why is she posted on this blog anyway shes pop, skinny ginger c*** i hope she flops like the other one from the group. At least that one could sing unlike the others in the group.
She never sang… was a whole lot of nothing.
Nadine flopped and Cheryl is only successful because of her image and popularity, nothing to do with her (poor) vocal ability. Nicola is different and doesn’t have a mainstream image, which is what music is loving right now (Gaga, Katy, Rihanna, Ke$ha, P!nk)
i personally think she is a strong singer and think that his song will ganier popularity due to it sounding very much like pon di floor and Beyonce’s mixtape version.
I don’t think Nadines album was bad, she just got negative press from the public and was made the bad guy in a Cheryl world.
