After 14 seasons, ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ is waving goodbye.
And, following much speculation, it’s been confirmed that veteran talk show host Sherri Shepherd has nabbed her own series with the same team – that will air in the coveted slot.

Moments ago, Debmar-Mercury – who has helmed the ‘Wendy’ show its start – confirmed that the series will be ending at the end of its current season in June.
In tandem with the announcement came confirmation that Sheperd – who has been stepping in as a guest host while Williams battled various health issues – will launch the ‘Sherri’ show in the Fall.
The 54-year-old, who notably enjoyed stints on ‘The View’ and Dish Nation, will interestingly retain the same showrunner as ‘Wendy’ (David Perler). Shepherd will serve as executive producer of her show alongside her producing partner Jawn Murray.
Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein said in a statement:
“Sherri is a natural who proved her hosting skills for many years as a panelist on The View, on Fox’s Dish Nation and again this season as a popular guest host of Wendy. Like our viewers, we have been impressed by the unique comedic twist Sherri puts on our daily live ‘Hot Topics’ segment, her creativity and interactions with our guests. Her love for the content and daytime fans is obvious, and we are excited to partner with her to create another long-term talk franchise.”
The duo added:
“This is also a bitter-sweet moment for us and our partners at Fox. We all have a great love and affinity for Wendy, who grew into a true icon during her 12 incredible seasons as the solo host of a live, daily talk show dishing on ‘Hot Topics’ and interviewing celebrities. Since Wendy is still not available to host the show as she continues on her road to recovery, we believe it is best for our fans, stations and advertising partners to start making this transition now. We hope to be able to work with Wendy again in the future, and continue to wish her a speedy and full recovery.”
Speaking on the gig, Shepherd added:
“OMG! I am so excited to have my dream come true and debut my very own talk show Sherri in the fall. I can’t wait until I return to NY to host the show and merge everything I love — pop culture, talk, entertainment, and comedy. I am thankful to Debmar-Mercury and Fox for partnering with me on this show and look forward to this new journey.”
As extensively covered here on That Grape Juice, Williams’ comeback has been delayed several times while she’s battled various health issues. She had notably been absent from the entirety of the current season.
She appeared to tease a desire to return as recently as last week. But, clearly, that will not be happening.

I only enjoyed Sherri because of her Wendy-isms. I don’t care what anyway says; I’m gonna miss Auntie Wendy. She had a great run. I hope her health improves in 2022.

I don’t wish bad on anyone, except DT, but Wendy hasnt been a very nice person. I remember how she dogged Whitney all the time and made fun of her almost daily. Then Whitney died and she got on tv and cried and talked about how she felt so close and connected to her she felt. GTFOH. If you really connected with her, you wouldn’t have made fun of her mental/ drug problems.
