It’s time!
Mariah Carey could barely let the clock strike 12 after Halloween before taking to Instagram to declare her perennial holiday takeover had begun.
But, lucky for her fans – affectionately called #Lambs – they won’t have to wait until Christmas to find out about the many surprises the diva is unwrapping for them.
More inside.
In addition to the seasonal reign of the ‘Queen of Christmas,’ November 1 also brought with it the arrival of her first children’s book – ‘The Christmas Princess’ – which tells the tale of a bullied young girl named “Little Mariah” who lives in a shack with her mom. Described by Carey as a “mixed-race Pippi Longstocking,” the character learns that singing during Christmas helps her spread joy, cheer, and unity to people.
“It’s a short little book, but it really does have a deeper meaning,” she shared with our friends at ‘USA Today.’
That meaning could possibly be found early in the book.
“No matter what things look like now, you are worthy and deserving of all the attention, love, protection, care, conditioner, and fancy dresses in the whole wide world,” penned Mariah at the beginning of ‘Princess’ story.
Elsewhere in the recent interview, the 5-time GRAMMY winner – when not discussing her forthcoming run of Christmas shows – also spilled on less yuletide-flavored happenings in her career. Claiming she has over 175 hours of footage from her Butterfly Lounge studio sessions, the diva is hoping to turn which the clips into a documentary.
What’s more, she’s considering doing a live show to commemorate the 25th anniversary of her 1997 album, ‘Butterfly.’
As if that’s not enough to celebrate, Carey is pushing full speed ahead with transforming her best-selling memoir, 2020’s ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey,’ into a limited TV series directed by her longtime friend/Academy Award-nominated director and producer Lee Daniels (who served as the helmsman behind films she’s starred in like ‘Precious‘ and ‘The Butler’).
The previously-teased venture, though still in its early stages, is top-of-mind for Mariah now that she is in complete ownership of her music.
“I’m here to do anything we need to do. I own all my old masters,” she said. “I don’t think it’s about ‘cast the girl who sings the Mariah Carey style,’ whatever that is. It’s about casting a great actress with a somewhat similar look and just making sure the acting is there. Because we have the music – they can sing along to it.”
At writing, there is no tentative release date attached to the biographical project.
