It’s no rumor; Lizzo‘s 2021 hit single, ‘Rumors,’ has been certified Platinum at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
More inside.
On Thursday (January 19), the RIAA took to press to announce Lizzo was the proud recipient of multiple shiny new plaques thanks to the ongoing success of songs that preceded the release of her GRAMMY-nominated 2022 album, ‘Special.’
Leading the certification updates is ‘Good As Hell,’ her 2016 single (which was re-released in 2019 as part of the deluxe edition of her major label debut album ‘Cuz I Love You’). Thanks to certified sales of 5 million in the United States, the Ricky Reed-produced anthem is listed as 5x Platinum.
The ascent extends its reign as Liz’s second highest-certified hit to date following the 7x Platinum status of her signature song ‘Truth Hurts.’
Elsewhere on the tally of her RIAA upgrades are ‘Boys‘ (also found on ‘Cuz I Love You’) and the Cardi B-assisted ‘Rumors‘ – both now sitting at Platinum status thanks to certified sales of 1 million apiece.
Collectively, the updates bring the GRAMMY winner’s cumulative digital single sales to 18.5 million in the U.S.
Cardi should start dating 50 they would be a great new couple
I don’t understand certification qualifications these days. This song flopped like hell but still reached platinum status….how? It debuted at #4 then tumbled down the charts soon thereafter. It gives the illusion that the song was successful when it wasn’t.
Stop hating a top 5 can never be a flop everything cardi touches goes platinum Tomorrow 2 up next
You said Adele’s Oh My God was a flop for being top 5 💀 Hypocrite.
Shayla talking about being hypocrite when it defends its other self aka Marilyn which talk like a racist and an homophobic just to admit she’s a trans. HILARIOUS.
