While hot on the promo trail last year for her latest film, VH1’s ‘Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding‘, singer-songwriter Keri Hilson waxed honest about her forthcoming musical endeavors and even addressed ‘false starts’ that left some of her puzzled about if they would ever get the official follow-up to 2010’s ‘No Boys Allowed’ LP.
Fast forward to this week, Miss Keri Baby is reassuring her longtime supporters that she has not only been creating a collection of tunes to line a new album but they will likely hear the first fruit of the labor this year.

Recently spotted chatting it up with Takeo Spikes and Tutan Reyes at the “Behind the Mask” podcast lounge, Hilson dished on everything from acting to losing her father in 2020, her love life, performing on the ‘Millennium‘ tour, and so much more.
When quizzed on new music during the hourlong chat, the R&B diva shared that she is hopeful her long-awaited third studio album will drop this year.
“I can say that [the new album] answers questions, I’m proud of it, and I can say that there were a couple of false starts,” she said at the 18:45 mark before detailing some of the stalls that hindered previous attempts to release. “I feel like I’m closer now to being able [to release new music].”
Careful not to unveil a tentative release date for the project, Keri revealed she is heavily considering updating some previously recorded content before dropping an entirely new opus.
“Lately, I’ve been wondering if I want to go back in and record some more,” she said jokingly. “I’ve been considering whether or not I want to freshen and liven it up a little bit. I’ve been inspired to write…”
Ultimately relaying that the cycle of creating and keeping the music to herself is largely what’s been happening over the last 12 years, the 40-year-old concluded she is proud of what she’s produced so far and strongly believes “this is the year” it will finally hit digital shelves.
