Wendy Williams‘ may once have been the Queen of radio and then daytime TV with her inimitable approach to Hot Topics, however recent times have seen her well-being at the center of countless headlines.
As widely reported, the star’s talk show was folded after she missed an entire season (and more) while recovering from illness and several stints in rehab.
Over the last year, comeback projects have been touted – ranging from TV to the podcast sphere. Yet, nothing has materialized as concerns for her health and sobriety continue.
Now, Williams’ 22-year-old son, Kevin Hunter Jr., is speaking up and out.

Unpacking that he fears for his mom’s life, Kevin Jr. (who Wendy oft referred to affectionately during her show) took aim at what he deems clingers-on who he feels are taking advantage of his vulnerable mother.
In interview with The Sun US, Kevin Jr. said:
“I know there are all sorts of things happening that I know in her right mind she would never agree to. As hard as it is seeing her being taken advantage of, I know that if I’m making sure she, as a person, is okay, that is the important thing.”
Getting granular about Wendy’s alleged alcoholism, he added.
“I know the rate that she uses alcohol isn’t like a normal person- and we’ve spoken about it. I’ve said ‘This is one thing where you don’t know how to approach it normally, and that’s fine.’
And it’s gotten to a point where yes, it could have that effect that it might be fatal because it affects her way worse than a normal person since it stays in her system.”
Spotlighting folk who he feels are exploiting Wendy’s condition, he explained:
“There are a lot of people who are very aware that there is an issue with her drinking, and how that issue may be helped, but I think these people are taking advantage of it while allowing it to play out to make it look like they aren’t causing the issue.
[One] reached out to me last year and he basically said, ‘We are planning on this [project] being a way that would tell the public about what’s happening,’ and I was opposed to it. I felt like, and I still feel like, she shouldn’t be doing anything that involves putting herself in front of the camera.
I was then reapproached by the production a second time, and I just said ‘No.’
They tried to offer me $25,000 to appear [in the unscripted project] with Executive Producer credit. And I chose to not do it for the simple fact that I just felt like however this came about was under a contract she shouldn’t have agreed to, for a project that wouldn’t paint her in a good light.”
Kevin Jr. stressed:
“It goes back to putting working first, and herself second. Nobody around her will tell her this, but she doesn’t have to be working. She needs to take a break from trying to progress her career and just be proud of what she’s accomplished.”
With that, what are…
Oh please. That demon is indestructible💅🏾
she let a man destroy her. what a shame.
I don’t believe it unless I see an actual video of him saying this.
That old husband Calvin did all this wendy was so happy until he broke her heart
I refuse to believe Wendy would be this down bad over a f*ckin’ man. She has a whole son, whom I’m sure she absolutely adores.
There is definitely more going on behind the scenes. The fact she hasn’t spoken publicly about anything recently at all is highly suspicious to me.
Typical black woman, so weak.
So sad.
Ever since the rumors/footage of her being unwell started to circulate I’ve been somewhat expecting for TMZ to announce her death. I hope I am so far from the truth and that she gets back to herself.
Rooting for you, Wendy!
