Damon Wayans & Damon Wayans Jr.’s ‘Poppa’s House’ Canceled at CBS After One Season

Published: Tuesday 22nd Apr 2025 by Rashad

Poppa’s House,’ the critically acclaimed comedy from father-son duo Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., has had its last laugh at CBS.

‘House’ may have been the only freshman scripted series on the CBS over the last season, but it’s also the only among all the network’s new scripted shows to get the axe.

Albeit a favorite among critics, the Wayans-led comedy didn’t stack up against the competition on the ratings front – consistently performing below the broadcast channel’s other comedies that were renewed (i.e. ‘Georgie & Mandy,’ ‘Ghosts,’ etc.).

Executive produced by the father-son duo, ‘House’ also starred Essence Atkins and Tetona Jackson as leading regular characters.

Look below to see how the elder Wayans responded to the cancellation news.

This comes as no surprise considering the show wasn’t good to start with. I expected more from Damon. My Wife and Kids is a classic show.

The show wasn’t funny black; it was funny white, which was the problem.
