25 years after Sisqo released his biggest solo hit, ‘Thong Song,’ the tune has seen quite a resurgence of attention thanks to a wicked endorsement from award-winning actress-singer Cynthia Erivo.

As has been widely reported, Erivo – hot on the promo trail for her latest album ‘‘I Forgive You‘ – took to our friends at Entertainment Weekly (EW) to dish on her favorite vocal performances of all time.
Unsurprisingly, powerhouses like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, and Beyonce made the cut. However, fans were stunned when Cynthia crowned Sisqo’s racy ‘Thong’ among her all-time faves.
Praising the Tim & Bob-produced cut for its “brilliant vocals,” the Academy Award nominee jokingly said the vocal theatrics housed in the song were “unnecessary.”
Once word of her adulation landed on the desk of the Dru Hill leader (born Mark Andrews), he took to Instagram to react.
“That’s awesome; much love to Cynthia Erivo. I’ve been following her – she’s a super vocalist and actor,” Andrews relayed to his IG followers. “For me to respect her as a vocalist and an actor and for her to shout me out with these accolades, I was both humbled and pleasantly surprised.”
