For Beyonce fans around the globe (affectionately called the #Beyhive), July 26 marked the end of the ‘Cowboy Carter‘ era as the chart-topping diva rode the history-making album’s equally historic tour right into Las Vegas for its final night.
For U.S. president Donald Trump, however, the date marks something less complimentary for the music mega diva: the reiteration of his intent to prosecute her for endorsing his Democratic presidential opponent Kamala Harris.
As reported here in May, Trump took to Truth Social to threaten music stars like Beyonce, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, and Taylor Swift for attempting to galvanize their fan bases in support of Harris’ 2024 presidential bid.
And though Donald ultimately won the election, he still called for an investigation into what he suggested were “illegal campaign contributions” by Kamala’s camp to those performers for their endorsements.
This, despite Bey and Bruce making public statements (directly or through representatives) that they were not paid to support the Democratic party.
On Saturday (July 26), Trump doubled down on his belief those celebrities should be prosecuted.
“I’m looking at the large amount of money owed by the Democrats, after the Presidential Election, and the fact that they admit to paying, probably illegally, Eleven Million Dollars to singer Beyoncé for an ENDORSEMENT (she never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!),” he said before calling out Oprah Winfrey and Al Sharpton as well. “These ridiculous fees were incorrectly stated in the books and records. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO…Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted!”
At writing, the president has not detailed his intent to pursue the legal matter any further than bringing attention to it.
Winfrey, Sharpton, Beyonce, nor Harris has publicly responded to his Truth Social rant as of time of this report.
