Ciara has seen the buzz surrounding her 5th studio album intensify as of late. Indeed, with it all but confirmed that she’s re-joined forces with LA Reid (the man who launched her career) over at Epic Records, interest in the songstress has reignited following a series of commercial disappointments.
Which is just as well, as the singer today tweeted a shot of her in the studio. Now, because we love to give you the real tea, we can confirm that the session was with hitmaker Soundz – who produced ‘Gimmie Dat’ from her ‘Basic Instinct’ LP. More over, though, we’re just glad to see Ms. Harris back on her grind. And with word that today’s session was an Epic sponsored production “camp” for her project (where a number of writers and producers congregate to draw up tracks for an artist), it seems the wheels are finally a-turning for her comeback. Roll on 2012!

well the last album didnt do too well simply bc she, to me, rushed it andshould have waited to release it, then the leaks n then her video wasnt played on bet, leading her to not perform on the bet awards etc. then the next singles were not successful. if she had a label backing her up n supporting her, maybe she could have done well, but she decided to release the album sooner than what they sugested her to.

Ciara rode in on that Crunck music wave, and that movement has passed. Then she tried to switch it up and go more pop, but that didn’t work, then Basic Instinct was an attempt to get that old thing back, but most of her fans had moved on to other artists like Rihanna and Beyonce.
Think back to Goodies era. Ri and Ci were on the same level career-wise. If someone had told you back then that Rihanna would be where she is now and Ciara would be the one struggling, they would’ve looked at you like you were smoking something.
basic instinct wasn’t rushed. the label faultered on the promotional schedule of an august delivery – 19th to be exact. the ball was dropped at the height of Ride where there was some anticipation. that industry shuts down in the 4th quarter & everyone and there mom whom can’t sell an album with huge numbers bank on holiday sales… (Mary J. habitually drops this quarter, Keri dropped, Rhi dropped) drops during this period. It takes months to set up contrary to belief, and harder for unestablished/less visible acts as they’ll get bumped for more mainstream/sellable acts. i’m actually shocked at the little promotion she acquired being so last minute, despite the album being her most cohesive.
gimmicks and fads fade – hence why rihanna’s team can’t take a break; gimmicks are promotional devices used to sell something that couldn’t otherwise on the premise of talent/benefit alone.

Well, its good to see that she is back in the studio and its even better to see that after two flop albums back to back people are still willing to give her a record deal and take a chance on her. It’s obvious she is serious about her career and is refusing to give up and I respect her drive.
Time will tell if she can come up with some material that people actual like enough to spend money on though. I hope she stick to a more urban sound with pop influence so that it will have cross over appeal. I do think she needs to stay away from the ballads unless it’s something along the lines of ‘Promise’ cause that was on of her biggest hits. She is gonna have to have a ballance somewhere. *shrugs*
Having a new a label is a good start but it isn’t a gurantee to of success. I’ve pretty much lost interest in her but good luck to her anyways.

Personally, I felt “Goodies” and “Basic Instinct” were her best but, it was good for her to try something different with “Fantasy Ride”. She needs to work with producers with Amazing beats , like Aaliyah did. She has somewhat has filled a void left by Aaliyah ( like Ciara, we always looked forward to an Aaliyah music video). With “Basic Instinct” the label waited too long to release the album” It should have been released while “Ride” was doing well on the charts. Anyway, congratulations to Ciara for gaining another record deal with Epic, it shows that people still believe she can do it.

She’s also working with T-Pain, Diane Warren and Polow Da Don, so this album should sound pretty interesting, in a good way. I’m glad she’s getting back in the studio

May I ask, why are we constantly putting these great artists against each other all the time? Like why are people always comparing Beyonce to Rihanna, Rihanna to Ciara, Ciara to Keri Hilson, etc. Like seriously, there’s room in the music industry for all of them to shine. Back in the days, the only time there would be little “stan” wars like this is because of beefs started by rappers themselves. Now the fans are the ones stirring up beef. Fantasy Ride >>> If High Price was the first single like it was supposed to be, followed by Like A Surgeon, Work, Pucker Up and Turntables, there would not have been a need to put Basic Instinct out a year later. The industry is against her. LET’S NOT FORGET that The Evo opened at #1 with 338,000 copies, penned a #1 R&B single (that everyone was singing) a top ten on the Hot 100 with Get Up. That album was platinum in 5 weeks. Her debut album had a #1 on the Hot 100 and 2 #2 singles on the Hot 100. Keri … blah. Her leaks destroy her sales. She better just keep quiet this era because she cannot afford anymore leaks. She needs to stick to her pop sound like on Fantasy Ride.
