Did You Miss It? Tory Lanez Sues California Prison System for $100M Over Stabbing by Inmate

Nearly a year after Tory Lanez made headlines for a shocking attack while behind bars, the embattled rapper is looking to battle the California prison system in court for the assault.

Lanez, currently serving a 10-year sentence after being convicted for involvement with the shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion, sued the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the warden, and guards at the prison where he was held at the time he was stabbed 16 times.

At the time of the incident in May 2025, the assailant – Santino Casio – alleged he stabbed Tory (born Daystar Peterson) with a homemade “shank” in self defense.

Casio is reportedly serving a life sentence for second-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, and two convictions while imprisoned (assault by a prisoner with a deadly weapon and manufacturing a deadly weapon).

“The choice to house Casio with Peterson was known or should have been a known danger,” the lawsuit reads before asserting Peterson’s “high-profile celebrity status” made him a target.

At writing, there is no record of Casio ever facing criminal charges for the assault.
