Joe Jonas reveals that he went to therapy following solo album salesJoe Jonas is candidly reflecting on one of the most challenging chapters of his career.

The singer revealed that the underwhelming commercial performance of his 2011 solo debut, ‘Fastlife,’ became the catalyst for seeking therapy.

During the latest episode of the ‘Hey Jonas!‘ podcast, Joe admitted that after years of enjoying chart success with the Jonas Brothers, he had tied much of his self-worth to proving he could thrive on his own. He shared:

“I released a solo album when I was about 21, 22 and it didn’t do as well as I thought it would do because everything the Jonas Brothers touched back then, it would be gold. We would just … be a No. 1 [hit].” He added, “I put something out by myself and I think I had a lot of high expectations of success without you guys. That was important to me somewhere in my core. I was like, ‘If I do that, then I matter.'”

The disappointment soon took a toll on both his mental and physical health, with recurring panic attacks and frequent doctor visits eventually leading to a recommendation to see a therapist.

Though initially reluctant, Joe said taking that step proved transformative, sharing that:

“I finally spoke to somebody after crying through the first question for an hour, realized how great it was,” he said. “It definitely was so helpful during that season and it has been throughout my life and other major life things that I’ve gone through.”

Brother Nick Jonas echoed the sentiment, sharing that therapy helped him redefine success, saying:

“I needed to be okay with myself, I just needed to be able to look in the mirror and just be okay as a person, as opposed to comparing to others.”

Together, the siblings encourage prioritizing mental health and embracing support.

Maybe you weren’t meant to be a solo star! Some artists need to realize not everyone can be Beyonce!
Adding these flops to the checklist
    – Nicole
    – Normani and other 3 unknowns
    – All DK members
    – Michelle Williams

Destiny’s Child was set up from the start not as a band, but as an OBVIOUS soloist backed up by harmonizers: Bey branching out was the goal.

      PROCESS:
Tina banned Beyoncé from sun exposure to look lighter than Kelly in Girls’ Time, Tina bullied the original lead singer into being fired for being too big, Tina accused Kelly of mitating Beyoncé’s tone until voice coaches changed her sound, Mathew manipulated Beyoncé into cosigning firing many girls for lame reasons (and threatening radio stations if they played fired members’ music) before sabotaging Kelly and Michelle’s solo careers, Jay paid to steal songs from Toni Braxton to launch a solo Beyoncé, and Bey herself musta made a lot of literal sacrifices to hit it big.

Fastlife is actually a good album, I just recently got into it this year. I think he just released it too late and was on the wrong label

I know it took a lot for him to publicly open up about this. The sense of self doubt and embarrassment he felt is real and not easy to deal with. Hopefully his story helps someone else.

I feel he feels shame having thought he’d be better than his brothers only to be humbled
