Martha Reeves REDOES National Anthem After Viral Performance: "There Was No Rehearsal, Baby"

Martha Reeves is looking to rewrite the ending of her viral National Anthem saga.

Days after the Motown icon’s rendition at the Women’s Pro Baseball League game became a major talking point online, the 85-year-old has revisited the performance, explained what went wrong, and even attempted a live do-over.

More details below…

As reported, Reeves’ take on ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ quickly went all sorts of viral after cameras caught players and onlookers appearing to suppress their laughter.

The veteran initially pointed to wet and windy field conditions, as well as the absence of stage monitors, which left her unable to properly hear herself.

Now, during a visit to FOX 2 Detroit, Reeves offered an even more candid account. While watching the performance back, she quipped, “That ain’t Dolly Parton!” before turning her attention to the backup singers.

“I didn’t see those girls until the music started, well, there was no music. I didn’t see them until I started singing and I turned around; somebody put them there. Who did that? You could tell there was no rehearsal, baby.”

Then came the twist.

Rather than leave the much-discussed rendition in the rearview, Reeves launched into the National Anthem once again, live in the studio.

She’s 85, the problem was the background singers who couldn’t follow her rendition who came out of nowhere.
