The Weeknd isn’t going anywhere.
After years of teasing the end of his famous stage persona, the superstar has offered perhaps his clearest indication yet that retirement isn’t for him.
Indeed, according to the hitmaker himself, he tried it and didn’t like it.

During his latest ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ show in Stockholm, Sweden, the 36-year-old got candid with the crowd about his future.
“I’ll never disappear. I love this too much to ever disappear.”
He continued:
“I tested retirement a little bit, and I don’t like the way it feels. Imma be here forever with you.”
The declaration serves as a notable shift from the conversation Abel himself ignited in 2023.
At the time, he billed his then-incoming ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ album as potentially his “last hurrah as The Weeknd” and said he was “ready to close” that chapter.
Importantly, even then he stopped short of saying he would abandon music altogether, touting the possibility of continuing under his birth name, Abel Tesfaye.
Now, though, his latest words make clear that those plans have been benched.
