Paramount & Warner Bros. Reveal NEW Name as $110 Billion Merger Nears Completion

Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery are days away from officially becoming one, and now the Hollywood mega-merger has a name.

Chairman and CEO David Ellison has revealed that the combined company will be known as Skydance when the blockbuster $110 billion deal closes.

The unveiling comes just days after the merger cleared its final major legal hurdle.

Per Forbes, Ellison announced the new identity while stressing that the historic Paramount and Warner Bros. brands will remain front and center.

He explained that the company wanted an overarching name that would give the newly combined operation “an identity of its own” without overshadowing either studio.

The corporate entity will formally become Skydance Corporation when the merger closes on October 6. Its Class B shares will also move from Nasdaq to the New York Stock Exchange and trade under the new ticker SKYD.

The name reveal arrives after U.S. District Judge Araceli Martinez-Olguin approved a settlement addressing states’ antitrust concerns surrounding the mammoth deal.

Once complete, Skydance will sit atop an entertainment empire housing Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., Paramount+, HBO Max, CBS, CNN, MTV, TBS, Food Network, and more.

The settlement also requires the company to release at least 30 films annually in U.S. theaters during its first two years, rising to 32 across the following three years. It must additionally invest $1.5 billion in U.S. film and television production over five years.

Former Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz joins Ellison as co-CEO on October 5, one day before the anticipated closing.

With the legal green light secured and its new identity unveiled, one of Hollywood’s biggest-ever corporate shake-ups is now on the cusp of becoming official.
