Ashanti‘s new album may be called ‘Braveheart’, yet it seems the singer isn’t feeling brave enough to release.
For following a series of push-backs, it has today been confirmed that the Written Entertainment set has been delayed again.

After initially being assigned an April 17th release, the LP was bumped to June 19th.
Yet, with lead single ‘The Woman You Love’ enjoying all the love of a jilted mistress, the album been pushed back once again – this time to August 28th.

If this isn’t a mucky-mess, we don’t know what is.
Clearly, the independent route isn’t for everyone. Touring, non-commercial acts (ala the Jill Scott‘s and Kelly Price‘s of the world) often fair well going alone – as there isn’t the need nor cost of the radio promo, marketing, hair and make-up, expensive videos, and all the components of simply launching an act. Heck, it’d probably cost three times that (plus a hefty Payola check) to revive an artist in Ashanti’s predicament.
The financial benefits of the independent lane are often touted as a “win” for the artist. Yet, any such act still needs to connect with an audience and sell records to ever reap the “coins” they’re pining for. Spending 6 months pushing a single that radio, iTunes, and every internet forum online let you know wasn’t the jam serves as more proof that a larger entity needs to be pushing her cause.
This whole episode is tragically sad, yet textbook “music industry in the 00’s”. Mediocre during your heyday and hailed; improve ten-fold and struggle.
Here’s hoping things work out for the former INC star. She’s too talented to fall by the wayside.

If that’s the case when were YOU expecting the album. Stop fooling yourself, she clearly doesn’t know what she’s doing and will never know until her fans (or what’s left of them) call her team out for their mistakes.

I had completely forgotten about her existence until TGJ reminded me. The woman you love was mediocre. I also think it was a bad move for someone that does not sing that well to independent. Who ever gave her that idea has officially placed her career in duress and I am interested in knowing how it will recover. I felt that Busta Rhymes carried that song. Didn’t even see her relevance on her own song. Can’t believe that another go hadn’t been attempted with another single because I have only seen TGJ targeting there audience to support her Project
I’m not a fan, but I don’t see the reason for all this negativity. Ashanti is trying to make it as an independent artist and that’s not easy, even if the quality of the songs is top notch. You fail to realize that all a label can provide is radio adds and TV rotation and that’s IF you’re a priority to them. But she had a huge label backing ‘The Declaration’ and it flopped, so why not try to make it on her own?
Pushing it back was a good move. It gives her time to find the right song and promote it the right way.

Ashanti is a smart cookie… Dont realease that album till you make sure you have a sure fire smash… Hopefully she is going back in the studio to work on new material, cuz the song she dropped aint working…
In the meantime please drop another song fast, just keep people interested while you get your music together…. Its better to be pushed back, then to flop…

How on earth can your cd be pushed back if she never set a release date…..let not go there….Ashanti and entirely too TALENTED and extrememly SMART with 10 years under her belt…she knows what she is doing…..when ASHANTI set a date and then her cd is pushed back from that then I will start to worry and do my personal PR for her….because she is ENTIRELY TOO TALENTED to let bum chicas reign.
Actually TGJ is correct. She did have release dates and those dates were published by sites like Amazon.com.

It sucks that she keeps having to change her release date due to not having a good single out. I think a large part of her problem is her trying to put out a ballad type song as the lead single when she cannot sing. She is better and singing hooks so a nice uptempo with a solid hook would do a lot better as a single. Also she should start listening to her fans and kill that dumb looking cover with the single braid. Also she should promote more now that she is independent. If she does not promote no one even knows she has a new album coming out.
The independent route is not the problem. The problem is the material. Ashanti needs to put out songs that are irresistibly catchy and that connect with her audience.
In the internet/Soundscan era we live in, even major artists with major label backing (neither of which Ashanti is at present) can’t fake a whack single up the charts like they used to be able to do back in the day.
Ashanti is smart, however, to delay the album until she has a hit single out.
LMFAO AT THE SHADE! TGJ I too forgot Ashanti has something coming out until I saw this post. She should just give it up already! Nobody gives a rats ass about her anymore. I remember when I couldn’t wait for her career to end like 8 years ago and when it happened, I was so happy. I am still waiting for Rihanna’s career to be exactly like Ashanti’s dead career is now. Ashanti can’t sing, her writing is basic and immature, she damn sure can’t dance, and she[‘s ghetto and fake.
A second single is needed or getting on someone else song at this point. But She needed to go back into the lab and make some new hit, and really go back to the basic such as making song like Baby, Movies, Leaving Always time part II, Don’t Leave me alone and Only U. I think also she need to get some good features for the Cd like trey songz, Missy, Eve, T.I., Lil wayne, J.Cole, Kanye, or Ludacris not saying too get all of them for this Cd but those or some good name that can help her get back into the Spotlight, & I would really love if she would work with Dr. Dre, Tank, 7 Aurelius, Pharrell, & Timbaland for Producer
