Danity Kane diva Dawn Richard looks all sorts of fierce in new promo snaps for her long-awaited solo debut ‘Goldenheart’.
The Joan of Arc themed shoot is the latest in a series of edgy visuals employed to publicize the independent album, which arrives on January 15th via Altavoz Distribution. Thus far, the project has birthed single ’86’.

This warrior princess/Joan of Arc image has been her thing for years now? 2009/2010 and the tour for Dirty Money saw this image 1st develop, her mixtape/EP have seen it mature.

Hope to be surprise with her album, Im sure Im gonna love it, since Ive loved ALL the songs she has released since 2011.
She needs to let go of this particular concept or at least make it palatable to the masses. I like the idea and it speaks so much into the state of the music industry and society in general that it makes for a potentially successful movement but it comes across as too complex with the over stylised imagery and explaination. There must be a way this “shield/amour/fighting to be who you are” theme can translate without looking so contrived and gimmicky.
