Despite rendering some of Pop music history’s most memorable hits (see: ‘1999,’ ‘When Doves Cry,’ ‘Let’s Go Crazy,’ etc.), an easy standout in Prince‘s prized discography comes courtesy of 1986’s ‘Kiss.

The fourth of his five career Hot 100 chart-toppers, the tune – which smooched the summit of the all-genre hitlist for two weeks that year – has seen its commercial impact outweighed only by its enduring critical and cultural significance.

A mainstay on ‘Best Ever’ lists over the years, the Gold-certified smash is featured in the top 20 of Billboard’s ‘500 Greatest Pop Songs of All Time,’ the top 10 of NME’s ‘150 Greatest Singles of All Time‘, and the top 100 of Rolling Stone’s ‘500 Greatest Songs of All Time.’

In a more recent toast to the legacy of ‘Kiss,’ the latter publication rolled out yet another all-time ranking that has the legendary tune towering over the competition.

The Rolling Stones and Lady Gaga have linked up for a titan-sized collaboration, ‘Sweet Sounds of Heaven.’

Lifted from the rockers’ incoming new album ‘Hackney Diamonds’ (due October 20), the mega-watt collaboration is gifted even more electricity by way of Stevie Wonder (who plays the keys on the colossal cut).

Following on from lead single ‘Angel,’ ‘Sweet Sounds’ sees Gaga trade verses with group lead Mick Jagger on the Gospel-kissed track.

Both Gaga and Wonder have previously performed with The Rolling Stones.

Mother Monster joined The Stones onstage as part of 2012’s ’50 & Counting Tour’ and their performance of ‘Gimme Shelter’ was ultimately released on the ‘GRRR Live!’ LP. While Wonder toured with The Stones on their ‘American Tour’ in 1972 – routinely rocking the house with the band on ‘Satisfaction’ and ‘Uptight (Everything’s Alright).’

Thanks to her blockbuster 2022 album, ‘SOS,’ R&B singer-songwriter SZA entered the 2024 GRAMMYs as the night’s most-nominated act (9).

Rightfully so, as the project had not only birthed multiple Billboard Hot 100 dominating hits (‘Kill Bill,’ ‘Snooze,’ and more) but was easily one of the most critically acclaimed albums of its genre in years.

For its critical and commercial successes, many of her dedicated fans figured the project would be a shoo-in for the award show’s most prestigious honor.

Much to their surprise and chagrin, the LP and its content did not capture one of the Big 3 categories it was nominated in.
