Only an icon with the star power of Dolly Parton could align some of the biggest names in music for one project.

After dominating the Country arena for nearly 60 years, the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer switched gears and genres for her first-ever Rock album, ‘Rockstar.’

Released Friday (November 17), the 30-track project features 9 original songs as well as the diva’s take on 21 iconic anthems from the likes of The Police, Journey, Rolling Stones, Blondie, Queen, Prince, and more.

“I’m so excited to finally present my first rock and roll album Rockstar!” Parton shared before the LP hit shelves. “I am very honored and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure.”

And while the tracklist is loaded with big-named guest stars like Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Sting, Steven Tyler, and many more, two standout tracks came courtesy of the P!nk-assisted ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ and the Lizzo-featured ‘Stairway to Heaven.

At this point it’s safe to say Latto may be the hardest working woman in Hip-Hop.

Easily the genre’s most active female act, when not turning heads with endorsements for Just Eat UK, Halls, Burger King, Sprite, and others, the GRAMMY nominee (born Alyssa Stephens) has her fans – affectionately called #Jackpots – turning the pages of magazines like ‘Rolling Stone.’

Featured in the latter with Rap legend Snoop Dogg for the mag’s ‘Musicians on Musicians’ series in October, Stephens dished with the Doggfather about everything from their respective journeys to fame, their unique positions in the game (being a woman vs. being a more seasoned performer), and so much more.

When not showing off fancy footwork in venues across the continent, the booked and busy mom-of-one has been expanding her digital footprint thanks to high-profile features in ‘Rolling Stone’ and ‘Essence’ magazines.

Having already secured ranking on Rolling Stone‘s ‘500 Best Songs of All Time’ (#426), Nicki Minaj is no stranger to seeing her 2011 megahit ‘Super Bass‘ lauded for its enduring legacy.

The historic Diamond-certified smash, which still stands as the most popular member of her prized discography over a decade after its release, got its most recent homage courtesy of Billboard’s ‘500 Best Pop Songs.’

There, it not only towered above every other female rapper’s placement but also made the 40-year-old the second-highest placed Black woman overall, runner-up only to Pop icon Whitney Houston who finished at #1 on the tally with her timeless classic ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody.’

Lighting a match under the track, the collective ignited the stage live at Racket NYC.

Readers of That Grape Juice know how passionate we are about music – whether that be past or present.

However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.

This week, we want to highlight cuts from Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, RIIZE, and Tyler Childers .

Only 35 acts can boast ownership of at least 30 Gold awards for singles from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) over the organization’s 70-year history.

Before Friday (April 7), less than 15% of the members of that exclusive club were female.

However, thanks to SZA and the ongoing success of her blockbuster sophomore album, 2022’s ‘SOS, the odds are rising in the ladies’ favor.

Like ‘Rolling Stone,’ music industry Bible ‘Billboard’ is no stranger to earning mixed reviews for their ‘best ever’ lists –  from readers and super fans of music history’s biggest names alike.
