Meghan Markle Speaks Out Against Racism: “George Floyd’s Life Mattered”

Published: Thursday 4th Jun 2020 by Sam

Meghan Markle has condemned racism in a powerful, impassioned speech delivered in salute of the graduating class of her former school, Immaculate Heart.

The US actress turned British royal has been the target of vile scrutiny, which many maintain is centered around her race.

So intense was the critique that Markle and Prince Harry stepped back from their position as Senior Royals and relocated to North America.

Now, as the world engages in heated discourse about the death of unarmed Black man George Floyd at the hands of a white Minnesota police officer, Markle is using her voice and platform to speak out in support of the many affected by racial injustice.

See and hear what she had to say below…

Referencing some of the African-Americans who have died in police custody, Markle said:

“George Floyd’s life mattered and Breonna Taylor’s life mattered and Philando Castile’s life mattered and Tamir Rice’s life mattered… and so did so many other people whose names we know and whose names we do not know.”
