Welcome to Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature carved out to celebrate TV and Film’s glorious past.
Today, we honour ‘Sister,Sister’, the game-changing ABC series which catapulted Tia & Tamera Mowry into national treasure status.
Fashioned by ‘Kenan & Kel’ creator Kim Bass, Gary Gilbert and Fred Shafferman, the series told the tale of identical twin sisters who were separated at birth and adopted by two strangers (portrayed by ‘227‘s Jackee Harry & ‘Simon & Simon’s Tim Reid.)
Hilarity and confusion ensues when the sisters, both unaware that the other existed, found each other accidentally and convince their adoptive parents to move in together to stop them from being seperated again.
The show’s ratings-ruling run would last five years and was home to many a 90s TV staple. These included Britanny Murphy of ‘Clueless’ and Berry Gordy‘s niece Bianca Lawson, who starred in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, ‘The Feast of All Saints’, ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and would go on to become Beyonce’s step-sister.

This is a 90s sitcom that could be really fun if they brought it back with the girls grown up but still involved their parents and roger some how. This was a good show. They should do a Netflix revival like Fuller House. Which I just watched in full, and I enjoyed it. Great nostalgia.
Wow!? Full House is back on? I have got to check it out! I did not know or hear about that! And yes, if Full House is getting the reboot in which I am excited about then yes, I’d love the same for Sister Sister. I loved that show too.
“Roger” is played by a child molestor which is why he was kicked off the show. The producers found out about what Chris Stokes and he had been doing to raz and the other guys and what they tried to bow wow
No lies. We all know it’s true. I just hope Mila and Jhene get the help they need too. Milas career will never prosper for as long as she’s around those perverts.
