Kevin Hart Says He’s “Over” Oscars Homophobia Drama & Won’t Host Show

Published: Wednesday 9th Jan 2019 by Sam

The “will he/won’t he” debate surrounding Kevin Hart‘s Oscars hosting gig can finally be put to rest.

During a visit to Good Morning America moments ago, the comedian/actor confirmed that he will not be hosting the 2019 edition of Hollywood’s biggest night.

Details below…

Speaking with GMA host Michael Strahan while promoting new movie ‘The Upside,’ the star offered an emphatic “no” when asked whether he’d host this year’s spectacle.

Looking to do-away with the drama surrounding his recruitment, he adamantly stressed that he didn’t want to speak on the matter again nor fuel what he’s been consistently branding as haters trying to tear him down.

As reported, Hart had been officially unveiled as emcee for evening – a gig he billed as a “dream come true.” Yet, elation quickly turned to furore when old tweets – undeniably homophobic in their rooting – surfaced and angered many in the LGBTQ community and beyond.

Caught between a rock and a hard place, the Academy demanded that the funnyman apologize to retain the spot, stressing that they’d have to move in a different direction if he didn’t.

Adamant that he’d already addressed the matter on several occasions, he opted not to do so again and that brought with it the end of his Oscars engagement.

Or so folk thought.

Last week, Ellen DeGegeneres went to bat for Hart – offering up a platform on her widely watched show to assert that he wasn’t homophobic and should host the Oscars.

That ignited anger in many corners and the entire attempt seemed to have backfired.

Still, with the show still without a host, many wondered if Hart was back in the mix. Something he himself didn’t shoot down.

Now, however, it seems that the curtain has fallen. For this year at least.

Per the video, it doesn’t seem a return next year is out of the question. Which begs the question: would you be open to Hart hosting in the future?

Your thoughts?

FOTH with that. My gay @$$ wasn’t really paying this issue any attention until he started b1tchin about having to apologize again. Sorry SMH that your toxic masculinity is a bit bruised by this debacle but in this FKD UP TRUMP AMERICA; ain’t nobody got any time for fake ass apologies and walk backs. If the apology was sincere to being with; it would have been many times more easier to repeat it. When someone dedicates THIS MUCH ENERGY to not apolozing; the walls of sincerity are cleared shredded and we HAVE EVERY G0DDAMN RIGHT TO QUESTION IT! fu(k OUTTA HERE & fk Hart for showing us his true colors. I hope his son ends up being gay just to spite his ass.

I agree! If the apology was sincere then apologizing again shouldn’t be an issue!

Sit please. Black gay men & transsexuals are being murdered on a daily basis. Thats way more important than a tweet from an unfunny comedian. So sit and STFU sweetie.

I personally do not want that. I want him to continue being successful and I wouldn’t want to wish ill will against a film or the entire team behind its creation; just because of 1 petrified apple in the bunch. All i want for Kevin Hart to understand, along with every other person of color out there b1tchin about the lack of support for 1 of our own; is that you don’t have to sh1t on your own in order to succeed. If thats how you need to behave to get ahead in your career than you honestly have it coming. You deserved to be knocked down from your pedestal a few knotches cuz those knotches were borrowed off our gay backs. :snaps finga:
