Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are getting into the unscripted content game with help from Amazon.
The happily married couple are celebrating their union on a creative tip by creating a TV show set to celebrate Chopra’s culture!
The sangeet is an Indian pre-wedding tradition and sees the couples’ families meet to celebrate the wedding with singing, dancing, joy and laughter and will lie at the heart of the TV show when it airs on Prime Video.
Now, the couple is on the hunt for Indian couples willing to invite cameras into their lives in 2020.
Priyanka explained…
We re-watched the video of our Sangeet last week on our first anniversary, and the togetherness of our family and friends during this event still sparks the same warmth and excitement that it did just over a year ago at our wedding. The Sangeet is a centuries-old Indian wedding tradition, that not only celebrates the union of two people, but also signifies the introduction and bonding of two families coming together in a marriage.
Nick feels the same way…
The days leading up to our Sangeet were some of the most special, memorable moments of the weekend. Bringing the concept of this musical celebration to the mainstream in a new way, through couples setting out on one of the most exciting journeys of their life, is an idea that we are proud to bring to life with Amazon.
The untitled release is yet to bag a due date.
Amazon’s Jennifer Salke had this to say when asked why the company is partnering with the couple to build the show.
