While the world felt the devastation of Chadwick Boseman‘s death last August, the grief struck more personal for his wife Simone Ledward.
During his time in the spotlight, the late ‘Black Panther’ star guarded his private life with vigour.
It did emerge shortly before his passing, however, that he and Ledward – who had been dating for many years – tied the knot in 2019.
Still, said privacy continued following Boseman death – which was the result of a four-year battle with colon cancer that the actor kept under wraps from most.
Ledward broke her silence last night at the Gotham Awards, where she gave salute to her husband while accepting the Tribute Award in his memory.

Ledward said:
“He was the most honest person I ever met, because he didn’t just stop at speaking the truth: he actively searched for it in himself and those around him and in the moment. The truth can be a very easy thing for the self to avoid, but if one does not live in truth then it’s impossible to live in line with the divine purpose for your life. And so it became how he lived his life, day in and out. Imperfect and determined. In doing so, he was able to give himself over fully in every moment, to be totally present in his own life and in the lives of people he became.
It’s an honor to receive this award on behalf of my husband. It’s an acknowledgment of not only his profound work but of his impact on this industry and this world.
Chad, thank you. I love you. I am so proud of you. Keep shining your light on us. Thank you.”
Our thoughts and prayers remain with Leward and all of Chadwick’s loved ones.
She’s gorgeous! She resembles Melanie Fiona

What’s a Gotham award?
A Gotham Award is a prestigious honor giving to independent films. A lot of films have big studios behind them so it’s refreshing that the smaller budget films get their recognition. They honored Chadwick Boseman rightfully so. & he WILL be nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” Not because of his death, but because he deserved it.
