When ‘Bridgerton’ returns for its second season, it will be back sans its breakout star Regé-Jean Page.

Unquestionably one of the primary faces of the smash hit Shonda Rhimes production, Page has seen his profile shoot into the stratosphere – nabbing NAACP and SAG Awards for his role as the suave Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings.
The news was announced by show character Lady Whistledown:
“While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” Lady Whistedown wrote. “We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”

One has wonder what the catalyst is. Especially with all the murmurs of Page being in contention to play the next Bond.

WHAT? I happen to enjoy him and the princess confusing love language and his hard head. He definitely broke up the ‘perfect world’ theme that every character tried to display. I’m going to miss his character…and his face.

He was terrible in the Shonda show For the people that was cancelled after two seasons. Don’t understand his hype.
The hype is because he’s black
If you’ve read the books and saw h** the first season ended, this comes as no suprise! By skipping the two girl children they had in the books and immediately having a boy, it brought an end to that “we must have a boy heir” storyline that would have taken place in the second and third books.
Also the focus has to switch and it can’t with him in it honestly. In addition whats the purpose of having him on the show in a reduced role? He’s also already signed up for three movie projects over the next year.
I’m sure he’ll return in future seasons but this next season ain’t about him and Phoebe.

After the catastrophic, abusive, and complete, unadulterated gaslighting that was 7 seasons of SCANDAL, Shonda has to PAY ME to watch anything else with her name on it… Period.
Don’t get attached if you’re a fan of hers!! You’ll regret it!!
