Jussie Smollett may still have lingering legal drama hovering over his head, but that hasn’t stopped the star from attempting to get his career back on track.
For more than three years, the former ‘Empire’ actor has been a fixture in the headlines and the courtroom after being charged and ultimately convicted of faking a hate attack in 2019.
Initially sentenced to jail, Smollett was dramatically released days after beginning his spell behind bars pending his appeal.
And now he’s re-affixing the focus on his work.

According to TMZ, Smollett has paired up with Mona Scott-Young who has on-boarded as a producer on his passion project ‘B-Boy Blues.’
The film chronicles the clash of class and culture when an unlikely pairing – a middle class magazine editor and a rough-neck, Harlem hoodlum – fall in love.
Long in the works, the movie serves as Smollett’s directorial debut. Aacceleration on the project slowed as Smollett’s legal woes intensified.
However, it’s back on track and found a home at BET+ where it will debut next month. Scott-Young is said to have been a vital component in bringing that deal to fruition.
Speaking on the venture, the Monami Productions head said:
“B-Boy Blues is a beautifully bold, funny, heartwarming bro-mance and I was thrilled to partner with Jussie to help this wonderful film gain greater exposure.”
