Halle Bailey continues to expand her presence on the big screen.
For, fresh from leading ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘The Color Purple,’ the 23-year-old nabbed a role in a hotly anticipated film from Pharrell Williams at Universal Pictures.

According to Variety, Bailey has been tapped to star in the Williams-produced flick – which is also being directed by Michel Gondry.
Currently untitled, the movie is billed as a “coming-of-age musical set in the summer of 1977 Virginia Beach inspired by Atlantis Apartments, Williams’ childhood neighborhood.”
Bailey will tar opposite Kelvin Harrison Jr. and new Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
Martin Hynes (‘Toy Story 4,’ ‘The Magician’s Elephant’) helms the script together with Steven Levenson (‘Tick, Tick…Boom!’)
