A compelling trailer has been released for an upcoming documentary about DeBarge and where they are today.
Full story below…
Directed by Matthew Siretta, the ‘DeBarge’ doc focuses on brothers James and Randy living in RV homes on the streets of Los Angeles. It was filmed over the span of a few years and wrapped in 2021.
It also explores the ‘I Like It’ family’s rise to fame after signing with Motown in the early ’80s. Along with their struggles with fame and addiction.
The doc will have appearances from fellow DeBarge members El and Bunny, including archival footage of Tommy and their mother, Etterlene Louise-Rodriguez.
It’s set to debut at the Slamdance Film Festival sometime this week.
So far, there’s no word on if it will have a wider release. But, a link has been created for it on Plex.

Wow, that’s hard to see. They were actually one of the groups whose photos were taped on my wall, pulled from Right On! magazine. They were so popular back then. It’s so sad that they’re lives have always been so troubled.
These guys are so talented. Alot of classic songs were sampled from them.
They’ll be back together God is not done with them as he is with me
I used to hang out with them. I like to know where they are located. I would love to try and help them.
