The ‘Emilia Pérez’ star, who won her first-ever Academy Award earlier this year for Best Supporting Actress, hit the ‘Elio’ world premiere red carpet looking radiant and ready to talk about her new plus one: Oscar.
But don’t call it a ‘he.’ Saldana told PEOPLE that her award is “gender fluid” and added that it’s “trans” and pronouns are “they/them.”
In ‘Emilia Pérez’, Saldana plays a lawyer helping a cartel boss transition, so yes, the themes of identity clearly resonate beyond the screen.
Now starring in Disney’s ‘Elio’, Saldana is collecting cool mom points with her three sons, who showed up at the premiere and said her Oscar win is:
