Denzel Washington Being Eyed For 'Crimson Tide' Sequel

A ‘Crimson Tide’ sequel is on the horizon and its producer Jerry Bruckheimer is eyeing Denzel Washington for a return to franchise.

Full story below…

In an interview on ‘The Rich Eisen Show’, Bruckheimer stated that Washington is open to returning as Lieutenant Commander Ronald “Ron” Hunter – but only if the script is right and up to his standards. He says:

‘If we give him a good script, I think he’d do it’.

‘Crimson Tide’ centers on the intense standoff between the actor’s character and the late Gene Hackman‘s Captain Ramsey, who are both aboard a U.S. nuclear submarine during a global crisis.

The sequel will boast a whole new creative team ,as the original film’s director Tony Scott passed away in 2012. Also no longer living are screenwriter Robert Towne, who passed away in 2024, as well as  Hackman, who died in February at the age of 95.

This sequel would add to Bruckheimer’s resume as he’s working on ‘Top Gun 3’ and a new ‘Days of Thunder’ installment.

As for who’ll potentially join the Oscar-winning actor is yet to be known, and details are hush hush for now.
