Speaking in a new interview with Esquire, Johnson explained that the discovery came just before a packed day of promotional commitments for ‘Jumanji.’ He recalled:
“The doc felt the lump and said it was probably epididymitis, inflammation of a tube at the back of the testicle that stores sperm, but it could be cancer. ‘What’s your schedule today?’”
Although doctors suspected the issue was likely a non-cancerous condition, they warned that cancer could not be ruled out until further testing was completed. He shared that:
“So I had to live with that for those 24 hours, not knowing — and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches. But! I’m okay,”
Thankfully, follow-up examinations confirmed was caused by epididymitis rather than cancer.
The candid revelation arrives as Johnson gears up for the release of Disney’s live-action ‘Moana,’ in which he reprises his fan-favorite role as Maui.
