Not even a collection of stage-blazing performances from the likes of Miley Cyrus, DaBaby, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and more were enough to help the MTV VMAs drum up an increase in viewership.  After netting their worst ratings ever with the 2019 showing (click here for details), the hopes were probably a bit higher for the KeKe Palmer-hosted 2020 edition.

Granted, preliminary figures indicate this year’s take on the annual awards show were their lowest in history, but it’s not all bad news.

Fans of the late Chadwick Boseman are seeing some of his most celebrated works revisited in the wake of his death.

Just two days after it was revealed the award-winning actor died after a four-year battle with colon cancer, ABC announced it would air his magnum opus – ‘Black Panther’ – in a commercial-free format, a feat that resulted in the network dominating Sunday night (August 30) ratings (as we reported here).

Now, another of his prized films – ’42’ – will get the re-aired treatment after Warner Bros. announced the biographical flick is headed back to theaters for a limited time.

From ‘Songs for You’ to songs for others, since Urban Pop starlet Tinashe wrapped the promo run of her latest LP she’s been busy playing assistant on a host of other soon-to-be hits.

In addition to recently rocking verses on ZHU‘s ‘Only,’ THEY.‘s ‘Play Fight’ and Iggy Azalea‘s ‘DLNW,’ the 27-year-old recently made headlines for her sexually-charged contribution to JoJo‘s ‘Love Reggae’ (click here to listen to all these songs).

Now, she’s continuing the trend with Compton rapper Buddy.

The flood of emotions to continue to flow in the wake of the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

And the latest tribute comes courtesy of the actor’s ‘Black Panther’ co-star Michael B. Jordan.

The pair’s delivered screen magic was  when Jordan played Erik Killmonger/N’Jadaka the cousin of Boseman’s T’Challa/Black Panther in the blockbuster 2018 movie.

Now, following Boseman’s death at 43 – after a secret four-year battle with colon cancer – Jordan has paid emotional homage to his close friend.

Though teased earlier this year (click here to read more), Starz has now officially signaled the green light for another chapter in the ‘Power’ franchise.

The network’s flagship series, the Omari Hardwick-led show bid viewers adieu in February after a six-season run.  Ahead of its finale, STARZ announced the award-winning program – helmed by Courtney Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson – would be granted four spinoffs.

With ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ primed for kick off September 6, ‘Power Book IV’ is being readied to center around character “Tommy Egan” (portrayed by Joseph Sikora).

While the industry continues to reel from reports of Chadwick Boseman‘s death, his fans and supporters are paying royal tribute to the fallen ‘King of Wakanda’ in a big way.

As we reported here, Disney took to press over the weekend to announce ABC would air his magnum opus – Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ – in a commercial free format Sunday night (August 30).  Following the presentation, an ABC News special honoring the life and legacy of the star aired.

Together, the specials dominated the day’s programming among fellow broadcast networks.

As the world continues to reel from the death of celebrated actor and activist Chadwick Boseman, many of his fans and admirers – celebrities included (as we reported here) – have taken to social media to offer their condolences and share their fondest memories with the ‘Black Panther’ star.

While most of the posts range from heartwarming to heart-tugging, one lifted by ‘Power’ actor Omari Hardwick has been getting a hearty thumbs down from fans of Boseman for its ‘narcissistic’ content.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Hardwick posted a eulogy that featured a bit more self-praise than reverence for for the fallen star.  When called out on it by a follower, Omari’s response landed him in even more hot water.
