Rarely do spin-off’s and sequels best the original. However ‘Love & Hip-Hop‘s Hollywood edition is re-writing all of the rules.

Royally ratchet, the addictive series is making a serious beeline for the top-spot with its sizzling storylines.

Now in its fifth season, the show returns to VH1 next Monday (July 23rd), and an action-packed super-trailer has been unlocked to whet appetites.

‘Love & Hip-Hop’ veteran K. Michelle makes her Hollywood debut and, as you’ll see below, makes waves from the get-go. Her story arc appears to center on the removal of her derriere implants and relationship drama between returnees Lyrica Anderson and A1.

Also back in the mix are the likes of Ray J and Princess (who gear up for the birth of their daughter), Teairra Mari, Nikki Baby, Moniece, Bridget Kelly and Safaree. As reported, social media sensation LaBritney has joined the cast too.

It’s been a decade since ‘Girlfriends’ aired its last episode and fans are still eager for closure on the big-screen.

Anchored by Tracee Ellis Ross (Joan), Golden Brooks (Maya), Jill Marie Jones (Toni), and Persia White (Lynn), the much-loved sitcom shared the lives, loves, and losses of four women.

Its somewhat abrupt end after 8 seasons in 2008 left many hoping for a movie to tie-up all the loose ends.

Over the years, key cast members have expressed interest – as has creator Mara Brock Akil, who was quizzed on the subject by Wendy Williams.

On the host’s pink coach to discuss new show ‘Love Is__,’ Akil offered an update on the potential ‘Girlfriends’ flick.

Despite efforts to boost the show’s ratings by welcoming Erica Mena and the Dancehall icon Spice to its mix, ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta‘ finds itself slipping and sliding on a ratings front without the support of its breakout star Joseline Hernandez.

The star’s feud with producer Mona Scott-Young saw her part ways with the show after its last season and watch it struggle fare well without her.

Why now may be a good time for VH1 to put an end to its war with the Puerto Rican princess?
