While its poor ratings may suggest otherwise, enough people tuned in to hear Chris Rock slamming Jada Pinkett Smith’s boycott of the 88th Academy Awards and easily made it the “diss heard ’round the world.”

Taking aim at the actress during his ever-controversial opening monologue at this year’s Oscars, Rock rocked headlines for weeks after the showing – even getting the attention of Jada’s Academy Award-nominated husband, Will Smith.

While he kept mum when asked his thoughts on Chris’s diss, Mrs. Pinkett-Smith was a bit more vocal when quizzed.  Hear her response below:

Welcome to another edition of TGJ’s ‘Retro Rewind’, the original feature carved out to celebrate TV and Film’s glorious past.

Today we stepped back in time and arrived in January 2001, the month and year the world was introduced to ‘Taina.’

Starring ‘Life with Mickey‘s Christina Vidal, the series followed the life of teenager Taina Morales, a student at the Manhattan School of the Performing Heights, who is determined to become a world renown superstar.

With the help of her best friend Renee Jones, the Latina musician juggles life, music, drama and culture as she navigates through life with her eyes on a platinum prize.

Before its cancellation the series pulled in ratings with guest appearances made by 3LW (who portrayed the group Blue Mascara), Kelly Rowland who played the controversial actress Nicole Burke who inspired what may be one of the strongest songs on the show’s Jive-backed soundtrack.

Ready to take that journey to the past?

ABC have been riding high in recent times with their primetime programming – thanks largely to ‘Scandal’ and, more recently, ‘How To Get Away With Murder.’

The Shondaland shows, alongside ‘Greys Anatomy,’ form the network’s popular ‘Thank God It’s Thursday’ block of TV.

And while ratings haven’t been as sky-high as prior times, all three titles have gripped audiences enough to earn all-new new seasons.

Sunday night saw the ‘#OscarsSoWhite’ debate explode to new decibels when Chris Rock hosted the 2016 Academy Awards.

The comic took a head-on approach to addressing the issue of racial diversity (or the lack-thereof) in Hollywood.

Similarly candid about the matter was Gabourey Sidibe, who we caught up with recently.

The actress, whose role in ‘Precious’ saw her become the 8th black female (ever) to be nominated for the Best Actress Oscar, vented her frustration but also seemed optimistic about the future.

Hit “PLAY” to watch Gabby wax honest with TGJ’s Jacqueline Shepherd above.

“Cool story but please keep Nina’s name out of your mouth. For the rest of your life.”

That was the message the Nina Simone estate delivered to the actress Zoe Saldana after catching the trailer for the biopic she shot to celebrate the groundbreaking performer’s story.

The movie makes its way to the world on April 22nd and has already been slammed by the entertainer’s fans who, citing Hollywood’s history with colorism as their reason why, see an alarming link between the effort gone to darken Saldana’s skin for the movie and blackface.

If Gabourey Sidibe has anything, it’s a view and a voice.

The Oscar nominated actress, who has risen to prominence via roles in ‘Precious,’ ‘Empire,’ and ‘American Horror Story,’ is back – this time in Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Grimsby.’

With the comedy being set in the UK, it was only apt that That Grape Juice London caught up with the star when she was in town to discuss her part in the movie.

Ever outspoken, she also elaborated on her tweets in support of Beyonce following the furore that erupted from some in the wake of the release of the diva’s ‘Formation.’

Watch above as Gabby chats it up with TGJ’s Jacqueline.

The 88th Annual Academy Awards may have spelled success for Leonardo Dicaprio and Sam Smith  but it hasn’t done the same for those hoping it would soar on a ratings front.

Stacey Dash is dodging some serious criticism after her cringeworthy appearance at the Academy Awards last night.

As fans of the ‘Clueless’ diva know, she’s been Black Twitter’s enemy #1 after her assertion that there was ‘no need for Black history month or BET.’  The damning quote found new life after Chris Rock, the ceremony’s host, introduced her as the show’s “Director of Minority Outreach” – a clear, yet failed attempt to make light of her statements.

Well, somebody should’ve reached out to warn her she was in serious danger of embarrassing herself (again)…
