Funnyman Marlon Wayans and Essence Atkins have already proven their on-screen chemistry with the hilarious ‘Haunted House’ big screen franchise.  So, it should come as no surprise the duo was able to replicate that comic gold on ‘Marlon’ – NBC’s newest sitcom.

Bringing an “updated take” on the classic family comedy style by co-parenting his two children with his unreceptive ex-wife (Atkins), the show not only brought some serious laughs with its premiere last night (August 16), but also some big numbers.

CBS has its eye on Justin Bieber creator Scooter Braun as it seeks to extend its reach in TV’s realm.

The network is developing a singing competition series with help from Braun as they seek to compete with ABC and NBC which house ‘American Idol’ and ‘The Voice’ respectively and extend its relationship with him following the birth of their scripted baby ‘Scorpion.’

Details on the project are still emerging so keep it locked on TGJ for updates for what may be a very exciting music industry moment.

How so? Braun’s success with the Biebs will undoubtedly add a level of credibility to a series seeking to find or forge the next generation of superstars.

Madame C.J. Walker‘s life is to be brought to life once again thanks to an unexpected collaboration between the Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and Lebron James.

Netflix are said to be eager to pick up the show which will see James and Spencer stand as producers and the latter play Walker herself with the full backing of Lebron’s Spring Hill Entertainment.

Ezekiel Elliott was horrified when he learned that the National Football League had decided to suspend him from a number of games after it claimed to have uncovered proof that he abused his ex-girlfriend.

Today, he has discovered that texts sent him to by said ex may prove that her tales were more fictional than factual…and steeped in racism.

Clarence Hill of the Star Telegram explains…

Elliott’s appeal game plan includes highlighting Thompson’s already chronicled text messages encouraging a friend to lie to police about an alleged domestic assault on July 22, misleading testimony to NFL lead investigator Lisa Friel, and repeated threats to ruin his career after breaking off the relationship, per documents obtained by the Star-Telegram.

Among the quoted threats:

▪ After being told Elliott didn’t want her at his house on July 21 and he didn’t want her coming out with him, Thompson responded with: “Ok this is what you want? Ok then, I’m going to ruin your life. You will see. If I was you, I wouldn’t go out tonight.”

▪ After being told she couldn’t come Elliott’s 21st birthday party, Thompson told him “that’s worst decision you made in your life. I’m going to ruin you life now.”

▪ The report also details a text message in which Thompson told Elliott: “You better be smart. And not be a dumb man. B—-, keep (messing) with the wrong, b—-.”

▪ After not being allowed into the after party, Thompson was heard yelling and screaming that “your career is over” and then proceeded to call the police.

▪  Elliott is also “100 percent certain” that Thompson told him on July 22, “You are a black male athlete. I’m a white girl. They are not going to believe you.”

Per the documents, Friel was unable to give an clear endorsement of Thompson’s credibility because she repeatedly misled investigators.

The above threats were made on July 21 and the early morning of July 22, the date Thompson called police accusing Elliott of assaulting her while they were in a parked vehicle.

Elliott denies that he beat her up and hopes the unearthing of her messages will aid him as he seeks to prove this to the world.

‘Basketball Wives’, VH1’s answer to ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘ continues to face criticism following the end of another poorly-produced season.

Fans of the series will know that its ‘Miami’ arm was cancelled following the departure of its leading lady Evelyn Lozada forcing Shaunie O’Neal and Tami Roman to seek refuge over at the Jackie Christie-fronted ‘Basketball Wives Los Angeles.’

Alas, despite serving as the show’s lifeblood for years, Christie found herself on the receiving end of on-camera abuse by her co-stars who now seem to be using her horrific treatment of her oldest daughter to tarnish her image and eventually smudge her out of the picture.

The multi-hyphenate entertainer Alexandra Burke has signed up to compete on the hit show ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’

Set to reunite with her X-Factor pal Aston Merrygold, Burke (who has enjoyed a remarkable career in on the British equivalent to Broadway in recent years) will lead the show’s star-studded cast when it returns to BBC1 this year.
