Always keen to dig deeper than the rest to seek out and celebrate the very best, we honour the life and lessons of Phyllis Hyman by way of interviews and performances she delivered before her untimely death in 1995.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the vocalist was discovered by Epic Records promoter Fred Frank following a successful run in the group ‘Phyllis Hyman and the P/H Factor.’

In 1977, she released her first self-titled studio album via Buddha Records and found herself joining the Arista Records family when the company purchased the label.

Her time with them saw her secure three Billboard 200 entries with the albums ‘Somewhere in my Lifetime’, ‘You Know How To Love Me’ and ‘Can’t We Fall Again?’.

The young woman who accused Chris Brown of holding a gun to her head has given her first interview since she first made the startling allegation.

Speaking to ‘TMZ Live‘, Baylee Curran detailed what she calls a life-threatening incident she says began when the singer caught her admiring diamonds being sold in his home during a party attended by the Reality TV star Ray-J.

Things intensified when she refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement Brown presented to her after he is said to have pointed the gun at her.

While R&B singer Usher has had no shortage of hits over his 20+ year career, his box office track record – like so many successful singers before him – has certainly sung a different tune.

With commercial and critical shams like ‘In the Mix’ and ‘The Faculty’ to his credit, fans of the stageblazer admittedly had higher hopes for his most recent cinematic effort, ‘Hands of Stone’ (August 26), which saw him portray legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard.

Life has not been easy for Destiny’s Child alumni LaTavia Roberson.

Indeed, since leaving the iconic ensemble, she’s wrestled with an array hardships – the latest of which relates to her second pregnancy.

For, last month, news hit that the singer-turned-reality-star had been hospitalised and was battling for her life.

At the time, the assumption was that there were complications with her pregnancy. And sadly, she confirmed such speculation true.
